    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

In highschool, we all remember that dreaded course where we'd listen to a teacher talk about dead composers and listen to fancy music that all sounds the same across time, well this class is exactly that and basically a repeat of all the basics we know. For six weeks I had to hear about the life of people who have been dead for centuries and they're famous now, but all the music sounds the same.

    Course highlights:

I learned that Mozart met Beethoven which was pretty cool and Mozart told the world to keep an eye on him because he was going to be a legend.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this class, make study guides!! Get familiar with all the composers and their time periods, what they used in their music and find the characteristics of their music so that if the professor were to play it you would know who composed it. Also flash cards would work great with this studying technique. If you pay attention in class, studying will be a breeze because it's just information you've heard before and you also get points for being in class so take advantage of you don't do do well on an exam !

This course is designed to be educational, not difficult. All that is required of you is to show up to class and take four online, open-book, open-note exams. Everyone listens to music so its super easy to learn more about it!

    Course highlights:

Along side different histories of Western music, Professor Keaton breaks down the ins and outs of music theory so that even someone who has never picked up an instrument can understand.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Although the lectures can drag on, they have everything you need to pass the tests. Make sure to pay active attention in class!
