Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Gotsick is a concise and understanding lecturer who doesn't assign an excessive amount of assignments. Instead, he makes sure that the work he does assign is relevant and very useful in learning how to write technically.

    Course highlights:

One of the highlights of the course was learning how to make a great cover letter and resume in the first few weeks of the course. This was a wonderful time to learn such skills, as the due date of the assignment coincided with a Career Fair on campus.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

For the How-To video- Start early and really plan what you are going to do. My group tried to just sort of make it up as we went, since we had never done something like it before, and our ended up being worse than we expected. Granted, we still received an A, but our work could have been better if we would've thought about what we were going to do before we just jumped into it.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Prepares you for engineering writing beyond my expectations. It is thorough, hands-on, collaborative, and informative. Although challenging and hard work, I can see the benefits.

    Course highlights:

The team collaboration was very beneficial. You will have the opportunity to take apart a technical device and write a how-to trouble shooting manual. This is something I had never experienced before, but something I found both interesting and valuable.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You will need good time-management to succeed in this course. The team project requires a number of hours dedicate to working together with your group. With many different schedules to consider, it is important to have good communication skills as well!
