    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This class is super easy. Just do the homeworks and show up for the labs and you will get an A. It also doesn't hurt to buddy up with the professor. You don't have to be super nice just laugh at her corny jokes and what not.

    Course highlights:

You get to take apart and put back to together a lawn mower and a drill, shich are pretty much the only exciting things.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Just make sure you do all the assignments and be able to successfully collaborate in your group. (You will be in a group of 4-5 the whole quarter.)

    | No strong feelings either way.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

All freshman mechanical engineers have to take this course and there is only one teacher so there is no getting around it. It meets once a week for three hours and each week is a different lab with one Freshman Service Project (FSP) that lasts for two quarters which I will go into more detail further down.

    Course highlights:

The biggest highlight of the labs was disassembling and reassembling an internal combustion engine as well as working with Kindergartners for my final FSP presentation. The biggest lesson this course tries to teach is how to work with a team. You are in the same team of 4 MEs for two quarters and you do all the labs and the FSP with these people.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely I would recommend a) making friends with the professor so she can write letters of rec later down the road as well as assist in any general projects and b) get to know your three team mates well as you will be spending a lot of time with them if you want to get a good grade.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is outdated. The material we learn was used before computers were around. This a required course for my degree, but if isn't required, I don't recommend taking it. For 1 unit, there is a lot of time and work required.

    Course highlights:

I learned basic to advanced hand drafting techniques. This is helpful if you have to read old hand drawn drawings or if you are a machinist and want to know what the part is that you are making.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Avoid it if you can. If you want to learn drafting just google it and you will find more valuable information.
