Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for people who enjoy discussing their opinions and listening to other people's opinions on social issues. This course is a great way to open one's mind to different viewpoints on certain topics and can even spark passion in certain people to bring awareness to, and make a change in, certain social issues. This course is also a great way for freshmen to begin earning their service learning hours due to the service learning project included in this course.

    Course highlights:

The highlights in this course were discussing very prominent social issues with the class and being able to freely express your opinion in a judgment free zone. This helped me to realize that it's good to listen to other people's views on things even if it opposes your own. It also helped me learn that it's important to listen to understand and not to listen just to argue back.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is what you make of it, so if you go in with a negative mindset you will most likely not enjoy it or get the most out of it, but if you go in with an open mind and ready to learn, you will gain a lot from this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course opens your eyes to real known and unknown social problems. Through the traditional sense of discussions, but also through the arts. Through movies, volunteering, and music you learn to understand and comprehend the world around you.

    Course highlights:

I learned that social problems are more than just racism and politics, but deep independent issues. Class subjective or gender specific. You learn each aspect of what is going on in the world and how artists, film writers, and journalists portray it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Apply yourself in your service learning. Take that opportunity to learn and create connections. Choose something you're passionate about and make an impact.
