    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

For anyone interested in history, this class is a must. It goes into the details of the historical times in which art was produced, thus adding a whole new perspective to the works that we study.

    Course highlights:

My highlights were the enlightening conversations we had with the professor about art and politics, as well as our very fun field trips to the Metropolitan Museum.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you want to pass, you have to memorize the paintings. It's tedious but you cannot just scrape by, especially with the older works. I suggest making a powerpoint and then printing it out with the work itself alongside the name of the author, the work, and the date it was completed.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Since I was studying in Italy, I was able to see nearly all of the things we discussed in class later on in person. My professor was tough to like but she ultimately looked out for us and was a bit of fun to be in class with. She encouraged deeper questions and made us all think about deeper meanings in art. I would say that she was extremely knowledgable in her field, so you could ask her almost anything about the course material and she could provide you with a deeper answer. All of her powerpoint were online which made studying easy. The one drawback is the workload; since you are already busy as a fashion design major, it is difficult to keep up with constant reading, writing, note taking and studying assignments. Her midterms and finals can also be a bit tough if you are not good at studying.

    Course highlights:

I was able to see most of the work in person, since I was studying in Florence. My professor guided our field trips and was able to provide further insight than in her lectures. I learned so much in this course and it has really impacted my view on renaissance art.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Bring your laptop to class. It is much easier to follow along and take notes, as there will be a LOT of notes to take.
