Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because it's a fun and beautiful language to learn. It's a lovely culture. I had a great teacher. I only had it twice a week so each class was two and a half hours in length. It was hard and tiresome, as it was both long and late at night. However, my teacher was always energetic and made sure everyone was involved, so she made it fun and easier. We divided ourselves into groups and put on two skits, which everyone enjoyed and had fun with, while incorporating the Japanese we learned.

    Course highlights:

We had to put on skits that usually entailed having conversations with multiple people. Because of the conversational factor, we had to make the dialogue as fluid as possible, no matter how crazy the script. No one in the class spoke or was Japanese. A lot of people have very funny accents and rough Japanese so everyone is a beginner. The dialogue aided in the students becoming more familiar and comfortable with speaking Japanese, especially in front of others.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Even if you have watched anime or dramas, don't come in thinking that all of what you've previously learned or heard is accurate. Don't come in thinking that you or anyone else is so much better than everyone else. Even if someone is a little acquainted already with the language and culture, it's not going to be easy. It's really a new experience, and whether it's the speaking, writing, listening, reading, etc. people are beginners.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Satoko-Sensei is a wonderful teacher! She engages her students, is always kind and helpful and she makes learning a new language fun. She is one of the best teachers I've ever had the pleasure of learning from.

    Course highlights:

I learned to read, write and speak the basic foundations in the Japanese language. I learned the proper grammar of Japanese, both in writing and speech. I learned Hirigana, Katakana and some Kanji.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep an open mind and have fun! Japanese (like all other languages) is hard to learn but it is important to keep an open mind so you are able to truly learn. Japanese can be hard but it is also a lot of fun!
