    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Brinns class is a flip course. Which means you will have to teach yourself. There are iClicker questions in class, and there is a new assignment due in each class. You work in groups of 4 all semester. You are expected to read the chapter before class and understand, because you are not allowed to use a printed copy of the textbook to complete your assignments. Only handwritten notes can be used. There are 4 main exams that count for 60% of your grade and a cumulative final. He does not really teach you, he only reinforces what you read in the chapter. If you come to class unprepared you will most likely be confused. He takes attendance at the beginning of class using iClicker so if you show up late he will know. The activities can be really fun at times, one assignment we did was a jeopardy type game and the winners got prizes. Its an engaging class and you wont be bored. But you will learn most of the material by yourself. I would recommend making a study group. Course hero helps you be prepared for some questions that might arise on the tests, but not all of them are on there, so don't depend on it entirely. Read the chapter. If you take the optional tutoring 5 week class, he will add 2 points to your final grade. So if you are at a borderline grade you have a better chance of a higher grade which means a better GPA!

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot by studying by myself, I learned a lot about time management and realized to get a good grade you must start studying for this class at least 3 weeks before the exam if you want to get a good grade. I learned about plant life and the different phylums and animal kingdoms, I learned a lot about the human body and the environment. The end of the class sets you up for Ecology, which is one of the required courses if you are majoring in Biological Science.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You must have good study skills. Write your own reviews. Study with a study group. Go to the teachers office hours to see your exams and to see which questions you missed and ask ways you can improve.
