Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Ap Language and Composition greatly prepared me for AP Literature and for college.

    Course highlights:

I learned about rhetorical devices and how to write an essay on other author's use of rhetorical devices. I also wrote a research paper, satirical paper, and tone paper.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This course takes lots of effort, but if you're willing to put in time and energy, you will definitely further yourself as a writer.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP Language and Composition was the first really challenging English course I took in high school. Every student learns about their individual writing abilities at the beginning of the year, and by the end has significantly improved at writing satire, description, and scientific research pieces.

    Course highlights:

    Scientific Research Paper, Writer's Portfolio

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Start your papers early! Teachers will always help you with rough drafts and thesis statements. Never wait until the few days before, and never write papers start to finish with no proofreading!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I found AP Language and Composition to be a very rigorous and challenging course, however I think it was all worth it. Ms. Parent made me take a hard look and my writing and made me discover new ways to think about the writing process and how language is used. I am definitely a much better writer because of this course and anyone considering this course should not be afraid of the challenge, but embrace it.

    Course highlights:

Some highlights of this course were the discussions about the use of language in novels and poetry. I learned that writing is an art that starts with an idea and is crated into exactly what you what it to be.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Always participate in the group discussions because one question or idea can lead to a revelation in the piece being discussed. It's not as bad as you think it will be and you can handle anything thrown at you.
