Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Beck is an outstanding teacher who not only loves what he does but is outstanding at conveying the content of his lessons as well. He works well with students to help them achieve their goals.

    Course highlights:

Mr. Beck's attitude and flexibility definitely make the class not only bearable but enjoyable as well. He returns to topics to ensure the proficiency of all students and ensures that everyone one is prepared for the AP exam at the semester's end.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you take it, which I would advise that you do, make sure that you collaborate with other students in the class to get classwork and even homework done. Group work is common, so make sure you make friends with those who are grasping the content and that you help those who don't as well!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

While challenging, this course brought me from a below ground understanding of government to the tree tops. Through challenging activities, tests, and readings I learned more than I ever thought I could. Mr. Beck was a great teacher for this course as he actively engaged with us and was also always willing to discuss current events, answer questions, and help us become engaged and interested in government.

    Course highlights:

My favorite aspect of this course was the beginning of the year 'Constitution Quiz'. Here, we had to memorize the entire constitution (the general aspects and constituents of each article and amendment along with years passed). We then had a quiz activity which was engaging, fun, and motivational. As an AP course, we learned everything necessary for the test, and I was well prepared to take the test in the spring, even with having taken the course in the fall. Because of the engaging nature of the class, i retained the information and earned a 5 on the exam.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Most of all I would advise remaining engaged in all the classroom discussions. While lectures can be dry in general, the tangents that begin due to a stray question often help to reinforce the ideas presented in class and allow for an application of concepts. By actively engaging, it is easy to learn about government and enjoy the process of learning.
