This class was tough.
Course Overview:
This class is extremely difficult. You must be motivated by your love for math and not discouraged by low grades.
Course highlights:
I learned how to apply my knowledge of calculus to everyday activities and problems. In addition, we learned many tricks to evaluate math problems more efficiently. I loved learning how all the pieces of calculus fit together.
Hours per week:
6-8 hours
Advice for students:
Don't be discouraged by low grades or difficult quizzes. Use the time we review quizzes to learn from your mistakes so that you can do better on the next one.
Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Course Overview:
The grading curve for the tests is similar to that on the actual AP exam, so I felt prepared. The pacing is good and the daily quizzes remind slackers to study nightly.
Course highlights:
I learned a lot of mathematical formulas and strategies I didn't otherwise know, and I learned different ways to think around a problem. Also she gives out candy and munchkins more than any other teacher I've had so far.
Hours per week:
3-5 hours
Advice for students:
Be prepared to budget your time and not understand everything right away. Don't be afraid to ask the teacher or other students for help.
Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Course Overview:
I would recommend calculus because it is the culmination of everything a student learns in high school math.
Course highlights:
Learning how to solve new problems with old and new math strategies.
Hours per week:
0-2 hours
Advice for students:
Don't slack during the summer because there is a summer assignment packet and test. Study these math questions.
