Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I originally was not interested in ECON. I took it to explore a different type of thinking, something different from engineering models, etc.. However, this course allowed me to have a better appreciation for all the decisions made on behalf of society. I have learned to connect the knowledge I gain from all aspects and subjects to how people in the real world interact. I can better visualize models and manipulations in models in my mind and have a better sense of how to express analysis through visualization. Dr. Stein also makes an effort to connect economics with what's happening in the world. She would have questions about Zika virus for Fall 2016, for instance.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course include that Dr. Stein captivates her students by making them care about economics. She does this by raising issues that students can relate to and applying economics to them so that they know how economics affects them and their surroundings. The class incorporates a lot of problem solving and makes you think about economics beyond just exams and homework.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to do problems and understand the economic models. Never just memorize particular examples because if you don't understand why a curve is shaped the way it is and how it can change under any given circumstance, this course will be difficult.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is a great intro to the major. You find out if the major may be too hard or not interesting enough for you but it isn't a hard class intended to weed out students.

    Course highlights:

I learned that economics is a potential major for me as I enjoy exploring the functions of business and economy.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Utilize your TA's and mentors because they really know the material. They are purposefully made available for students to seek help so don't be afraid to ask.
