Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend taking Chemistry with Mrs.Mai. She is an excellent teacher and her labs truly help you grasps the content she teaches in her lectures.

    Course highlights:

Stoichiometry, Avogadro's number, and the procedure for writing a proper lab report are things I learned from this course that I will never ever forget.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do your homework, pick trustworthy lab partners, and study your notes thoroughly

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry Honors is a challenging course, but will be very helpful in the future to enable students to enter Physics Honors and to show colleges and universities that you are capable of succeeding in harder than average classes.

    Course highlights:

This course teaches the basics of Chemistry. You go over topics that you have already seen before such as the periodic table, atomic theory, and solutions, but delve deeper into them and learn more. You also learn new topics such as molarity, chemical equations, reactions, properties of elements and acids and bases, etc.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't depend too much on the index cards Mrs. Mai provides, they should only be used as back-up. Always ask questions if you don't understand the topic, because she goes pretty quickly, and don't hesitate to use your classmates and the internet as a resource.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This was the hardest class I have ever took during my junior year at CCTS. Mrs. Mai is one of the hardest and coolest teacher you'll ever meet. But, she doesn't play around when it comes to assignments/labs and projects that was major for our grades. You have to really pay attention in her class and you can't miss a day or you'll be behind very fast since we move fast in that class. But, overall you will learn a lot from her class if you do everything right.

    Course highlights:

Making Ice cream and as a group project, we had to teach the class a section from the book and created a 3D experiment to perform for the class.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Always pay attention in this class because it's a lot to learn within that week. She'll teach you a lesson and give you notes based on that topic. Then, there'll be a quiz next week after and a new topic the next day. The pace is fast in this class, so I wouldn't try to miss her class or you'll be behind. Also, take very good notes. Be organized and have everything because she checks your items.
