Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it really did prepare me for the Advanced Placement test. It definitely did help prepare me with my essays, and the practice was never-ending. It could've focused on more of the multiple choice section, to help strengthen my skills on that, but overall, I do recommend it because the essays were more difficult, in my opinion.

    Course highlights:

My highlights of his course was that we wrote a lot. I enjoy writing essays, and i enjoy writing overall. We did articles of the week, and it helped keep me updated with the outside world, and politics, something I don't normally pay attention to.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Stay on top or work. Don't be lazy. The work isn't hard. To be honest, you just have to get it done. Don't procrastinate. If you need help, or assistance, Mr. Paez is willing to help you, but you have to take the initiative to go to him for help. He is understanding, and will help as much as he can.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend taking this course because it undoubtedly assisted me in making better study habits for college. As well as this, my writing skills have improved tremendously. It is a very rigorous class, but the amount of knowledge and skills you gain are certainly worth it.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of taking this course is seeing the improvement in your writing from the beginning of the year in comparison to the end. In the beginning you know that there will be a very intimidating test at the end and you almost feel as if you will never be prepared, but as you progress in the class you begin to notice how much you have learned and how less intimidating the test seems to be.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise other students to study constantly. This class is not one where you can review the night before to pass the test. There is an overwhelming amount of vocabulary and you can not memorize it all in one night. I would recommend having a pack of flash cards in your bag with you and every time a new vocabulary word is introduced write it down on a flash card and study the words every night before you go to bed. This teacher loved to give pop quizzes so studying those words every night is essential.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend all high school students partake in this AP English Language because Dr. Schuetze-Coburn is very skillful in the craft he teaches. He gives students the correct guidance and tasks to complete that is necessary for learning.

    Course highlights:

I have not only learned how to encounter and execute the different forms of essays and observation papers correctly, but I've also been taught the importance of diction and syntax use, and even have knowledge on the history of English itself.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To survive this course, students need to understand the importance of setting time to do their work on time and spread out. Students also need to collaborate with other students. There are always opposing views on the subject matter, so its good to work together to come to the same outcome. And, also, don't be afraid to ask questions. Teachers actually crave the curiosity of students because students learn differently, and clarification may need to be asked directly.
