Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend Professor Latturner! She did an amazing job in lecture where she explained the different formulas you had to use and why. She was also very clear on what concepts you definitely had to know for her exams. There were even science experiments Latturner completed in lecture.

    Course highlights:

Well I learned basic chemistry. After the class was over I knew how to write and name chemical formulas, to predict and write equations for some chemical reactions, to calculate mass and energy relationships between products and reactants, to describe the electronic structure of atoms and the bonding in molecular and ionic compounds, and to calculate property changes in gases.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is not difficult to understand, but you will have to memorize a few things if you take Latturner. She does tell you exactly what to memorize so its not a surprise when you see it on the test. If you take this course take what she says seriously when she says you need to know it.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommit this course especially if you are trying to go to medical school, since it is one of the courses required. This specific professor was great and really was a greater teacher and mentor to his students. This course was kind of tough for me since it was all new things I had never been introduced to before. When I put the time and effort into studying and preparing for my tests and quizzes I began to earn grades I was proud of. You will also be able to do the same with if you decide to take this course. It is a good introduction to the other science courses you would take following it.

    Course highlights:

I was a pre-medical students so this course was required for me and helped me to understand some of the basics that I needed for the next course, general chemistry II. Learning certain equations and how to use them was helpful for future events such as when I took the MCAT, where the same material is tested.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would definitely encourage them to go to office hours. Dr. Kearley is so helpful and just wants his students to succeed. Taking the extra time to ask him questions will help you to understand the material more and will also help with your performance in the course. My last piece of advice is to work on the problems that are located at the end of each chapter. These questions will help you to master the concepts of the chapters, and ate very similar to the questions that will appear on the tests.
