Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mass and Energy Balances I was an extremely satisfying course. The principles taught in this course are not only useful as a foundation for chemical engineering, but also provided insight to more rigorous methods of analyzing a system.

    Course highlights:

In this course I learned the definitions of open and closed systems and methods of analyzing them. This course focuses primarily on solving time independent mass balances. I learned various methods of solving for needed input and output concentrations to complete a process, The course also teaches how to know if a balance problem can or cannot be solved and how to redefine a system so that the balance can be solved.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To students considering this course I advise you to thoroughly understand and memorize the fundamental balance equations. Also focus on the methods for solving each kind of problem rather than remembering the example solutions.
