    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Best class I have ever taken! Definitely changed the way I process information and taught me a lot about how to study

    Course highlights:

Gained a fantastic foundation of organic chemistry that helped me a lot in orgo II, organic lab, biochemistry, and even the MCAT! Very hard tests, but definitely worth it!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Study, study, study. Know the rules and the exceptions to the rules...do lots of practice problems

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend the course to those who are interested in gaining knowledge about chemistry in a higher substance. The course effectively prepares you for higher examinations such as the MCAT or the DAT. It is highly recommended to those who are pursuing a profession within the medical industry.

    Course highlights:

Some of the greatest highlights of the course includes being able to gain practice at home without the stress of hindering your grade in the course. By completing homework assignments, you are able to learn certain concepts behind organic chemistry and apply them to real life scenarios.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course, I recommend that you dedicate a great amount of time to preparing for the exams. I suggest that you avoid waiting to the last minute to prepare for the exam and understand concepts. This course requires practice and in-depth understanding of why something is taking place or how it is taking place.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic chemistry overall is difficult, but Dr. Hilinski makes it so that the core material necessary for Orgo 2 is embedded in your brain by the time you get to it. He was at times hard to follow, but his practice tests and quizzes are extremely helpful and make it possible to pass with a good grade if the studying time and effort is put in.

    Course highlights:

I learned nomenclature, chemical properties, stepwise mechanisms, and synthesis thoroughly through this course. I definitely enjoyed the mechanisms more than anything else since there are clear steps established, but the other material took some more time to learn.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

All you need to do well in this course is studying discipline and determination. Many Orgo classes are "weed out classes" that usually succeed in scaring students off from pursuing a scientific major that requires the class. I have plenty of friends who have switched majors due to this class, so my main advice is to be determined. Make sure you make the most effort possible and not let the material scare you. It's difficult, but you can do it!
