    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was a requirement for me but I would recommend this class in order to gain an understanding on how to view art. This class shifted me from thinking as a painter, to thinking as an observer and analyzing the context of the work in its time period. Though this course was not my most favorite, it is valuable in attaining a rich background of the history of art and the artist whom created it.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to name an artwork by site with its artist, the date, the place of creation, along with the medium of the work. Each of these named details were learned for EACH picture that was presented for testing.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Start studying the course materials early for the exams and quizzes. There were a lot of pictures to learn but there is also the background information that you must know for each image. It takes a substantial amount of time to study for the exams.

    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course because this is an amazing professor, who knows how to make class enjoyable. Although the class may be lecture based, the lecture is captivating. She also assigns many writing responses and essay questions, but she is very clear in what she's looking for on the assignments.

    Course highlights:

My highlight of the course was actually the writing assignments. I found them to be very beneficial to my growth although they were not easy for me. Her assignments allowed me to express my thoughts about topics. She challenged me to become more clear and concise, while still getting my point across. This is a skill that will help me greatly, not only in my college career, but beyond that as well.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell students that are considering this course that while it is great, you must be ready to dedicate yourself to learning. Be prepared to study artists and their works multiple times a week, because you will cover 1-2 time periods per lecture. Do not procrastinate with her assignments, because while they are seemingly spread out, they require a decent portion of time in order to do well and show you've mastered the concept. Future students should know that when taking this class, be sure you are ready and willing to work.
