    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend taking AP Literature for senior year of high school. This course greatly improved my writing abilities. I am now capable of constructing a well written essay within thirty minutes of receiving the prompt. This course is absolutely a must.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was the books that we were required to read. The books were all very interesting. My personal favorite was The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. I enjoyed reading about the war stories and found the soldiers thoughts about the war very interesting.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class, you absolutely must read the books and take notes. It will really help you for the tests. The notes will be helpful when remembering small details about the story.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mrs. O'Hearn is a great teacher. She teaches her classes with a lot of passion, and makes it clear that she cares about her students. She is very talented and knows exactly what a student needs to improve on to improve their writing, and offers helpful ways that the student can use to improve.

    Course highlights:

We read The Things They Carried this past semester and she taught me how to read closely and see literary elements that I didn't know existed before.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

AP is well worth all of the work and if you enjoy reading and writing I would completely reccomend that you take it.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Ms. O' Hearn is a great teacher and pushes all of her students to work hard. Even though I have not taken the AP test yet, I know I will be prepared due to all of the preparation she does for us.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course to me are the socratic seminar discussions. After we read, we all make our own questions and asked them to other students to see their point of views. I enjoyed this because every one in the class picked up on things I did not notice and I felt good when I could point out something significant that others did not notice.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is a lot of work but you learn a lot! If you are a good reader and writer I recommend the course. Also, consider your feelings on poetry before you decide to take the class. We analyze a lot of poetry.
