Not too easy. Not too difficult.
I love english, but this course strengthened it. I was able to learn about different authors and their techniques. I loved reading through the different famous pieces of literature. This class was a nice break for me from my other more stressful classes, and gave me time to appreciate literature, the authors, and the knowledge they had to offer.
The highlights of this course for me were getting to read different types of literature from novels about the civil war, to the gothic literature of Nathaniel Hawthorne. I liked getting to dive in to someone else's viewpoint of history, and was very enlightened of what it must have been like to live in those times, from a character's viewpoint, as well as the author's.

Advice for students:
For an English class, I would suggest getting as much feedback as possible. The teacher is there to help you, and can give you some really great feedback for your essays or stories. If the teacher grades your work before giving you feedback, ask fellow students, parents, and individuals to give you tips on it before hand. Be passionate. Every English teacher is going to like a certain style of writing. Not every one is going to like yours. Be yourself, have fun, and go for it. Find something that interests you in your writing. Write about what strikes a passion in yourself. It makes everything a lot more enjoyable that way.
