    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It’s a fascinating, fast-paced course, and Mr. Gears does an excellent job of matching the pace of the class to each class's needs, going over only questions that students struggled with, to leave enough time to go over the more difficult and important ones.

    Course highlights:

Derivatives and integrals were the main topics, but through them I learned so much more, and concepts from previous math classes started to make a lot more sense. I also learned a lot of physics, including Hooke's Law of Springs, and it was cool to get real-world math problems to do using actual physics.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

There is a lot of memorization in this class, but it is really important, and once you do memorize it all, it will make everything so much easier. Also, for Mr. Gears, once you learn the definitions of derivatives and the definition of continuity, make sure you always remember them, because he likes to put that on almost every test after a certain point. Being able to recognize the basic types of graphs and the equations they correspond to, and remembering the main trig identities will also be helpful.
