Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because the class really prepares you for IB English if that is the path that you are going to take. Mrs. Koppes is also an amazing teacher who will do anything for her students and help them achieve their goals for the class. She even managed to make reading Shakespeare fun!

    Course highlights:

One of the highlights from when I took the course was creating a "movie" of a modern day Julius Caesar which ended up being one of the most influential and informative projects I, personally, did all year. It was fun to do, but also helped us learn the elements of Julius Caesar that we were required to know.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be respectful to the teacher because Mrs. Koppes is not one of the teachers who put up with talking back and disrespect. Being this way, my class with her was the period that we were all well-behaved and respectful compared to other class periods.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Learning about the various myths of the world really broadened my perspective on the world. Mythology encourages students to form their own opinions and make connections based on the myths studied.

    Course highlights:

The best part of this class was the amount of discussion. The class was constantly talking together about various opinions and reflections on the myth being studied. My biggest take away was the realization of how connected every culture is. Seeing the similarities in ancient cultures myths allowed me to see patterns in mankind.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The best way to be successful in this class is by participating. No answer is wrong and all students are encouraged to share any opinion in respect of the class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It was so helpful in building my understanding of how to interpret and analyze novels. It built up my ability to use symbols and other tools to help create my understanding and knowledge of the work itself even just by looking at sentence structure. Mrs. Higgins is so understanding and amazing. No one is left behind and she doesn't give up until you really grasp the concept.

    Course highlights:

We learned literary elements and how they can change a novel and they way you look at the work. We read and leaned how to analyze various famous novels and studied the theme and possible thesis ideas for each piece. It was amazing.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

ALWAYS read the novel. Don't cheat yourself and look on spark notes and get away without thoroughly reading the book.
