Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Doyle explains the material well. His class is tough, but he provides plenty of practice throughout the semester. While you may not grasp the topic from the first time he mentions it, as long as you pay attention in class, the class is not too difficult. He provides you with many resources to help you and you can always ask him for help during lunch

    Course highlights:

Learned to part write, sight sing, harmonize melodies and dictate melodies. Learn good chord progression, etc. If you want to pursue music, you need to take Music Theory from Doyle

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Take it. It may not be your favorite course, but worth taking. Even if you dont become a music major, take the course. You can take a theory placement test in college and see if you can receive humanities credit hours so you can take more electives of your choice

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course although tiring and hard, has helped me understand music so much more. I now feel as if I could improvise an entire song because this course has taught me so much musically.

    Course highlights:

While taking this course I learned all of the different types of scales and how to write all of them for each key. I also learned key signatures really fast by using the circle of fifths.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The most important advice I can give is to ask questions during the course even if you have small doubts, still ask questions. Please also do your homework and do it right! Homework can kill your grade fast if done wrong or not done at all.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Doyle is a Fantastic teacher. He does not throw tons of information at you at one time. He spreads it out and give enough homework to practice. He tells stories through the class to distract you on purpose so you are forced to recall what he has just taught you. He will definitely prepare you for the AP exam without a huge need to study.

    Course highlights:

Some highlights from this course are receiving a A on all but 1 test, and fully understanding every topic taught. I have learned how to part write, I can spell intervals, Triads and 7th chords and will learn more next semester.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Learn bass, treble and C clefs before starting the course. If I could of read all 3 clefs, it would of made it a lot easier.
