Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It was a challenging yet doable English course. Additionally, Mrs. McKinney really knows how to teach the material and how to help students improve their writing skills.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to write a formal essay and how to comprehend and analyze higher level literature.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep any criticism you are given on your writing in mind. The only way to improve is to find your weaknesses and to make an effort to fix them.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course, because it provides an opportunity to not only improve one's writing skills, but also to improve one's time management skills. Mr. Pogreba works tirelessly to provide students with individualized feedback on their essays to improve their writing prowess, but he also gives students a lot of time in which to do this. He also allows students to revise their essays unlimited times, because he wants to see improvements and if students are willing to put in the work then he is as well.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was the propaganda unit, where the class worked on learning the techniques that the media uses to influence the public's opinions. The class read materials from Chomsky and Herman along with discussions that revolve around one's own ideas on how people are manipulated in society. I learned to be cynical in my view of the world so as to better analyze all that is around me, but it also opened my eyes to some of the more amazing aspects of life in the United States. The blending of these two topics surprised me, but I believe that it has made me a better, more informed person.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell prospective students that they need to be ready to work. Mr. Pogreba will work hard to help them, but there is little he can do if they refuse to work to better themselves. This class is for students who wish to learn more about the world through reading and discussion with their peers, not for students that want to skate by and pick up an easy college credit.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It was a fun class that I wanted to come to everyday.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to read a book in depth and find out what the story really means and what the author is trying to portray.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read all the books you're supposed to and do your work.
