    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is the most challenging course I have ever taken. I have always enjoyed math but this class pushed me to the edge, in a good way. I was tested to my limit and discovered I am a lot smarter then I think I am. I became more competitive but in a way that I was more eager to learn new material.

    Course highlights:

I learned not to "check out" or give up too soon. Push through the hard assignments and study to the maximum when it comes to tests. Although i never got an A on a test, i saw improvement throughout the year. It was like a roller coaster that kept going up. In addition I learned ways to apply what I learned in class to real life situations. That made problems easier to understand and more comprehendible.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed you need to take thorough notes. Be organized and create your own way of understanding the material. Also do not be afraid to ask plenty of questions. The teacher is there to help you, so use that to your advantage. Raise your hand, go to him/her after class. Your need to apply yourself and try your hardest because it will not come easy.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Calculus is a very fun math. There is a lot of formula creation and problem solving. I learned more about limits and derivatives, and was introduced to optimization problems and integrals. Optimization problems are where you create your own formulas to solve problems, which is a life skill as I now see it. One example was to find the maximum volume of a box that can be made with the lowest cost of production.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed learning more about derivatives, integrals and limits. I liked how simple the algebra was and even though there were a lot of steps to work up to these topics, it made doing general math much easier.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Always read ahead and get to know the material you are about to go over in class. It will help you understand what the teacher lectures better and help you understand how to complete the homework. Do practice problems in any spare time to review what you've learned which will help on the final.
