Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It provides a superb introduction to the ever-increasing realm of knowledge of abnormal psychology.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the group discussions meant to simulate the environment in which psychologists collaborate, think critically, and solve problems (extra credit was offered as well).

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Possibly the best method for success in this course would be to read each chapter thoroughly, and ask questions in class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this course! First of all, because of the excellent professor who teaches it at Miami Dade College. Second of all, because of its great content. This course is rich and teaches you about the foundations of abnormal psychology. As a student you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of all categories of abnormal behavior. That will be a key element if you would like to major in psychology.

    Course highlights:

I am still taking this course however, I am already excited about its outcome. So far I have learned about the history of abnormal psychology and the terms as used in science psychology. We have also had discussions about cultural beliefs and attitudes about abnormal behaviors. We are learning about major disorders, how to describe them and to define their characteristics as stated in the diagnostic and statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. We are also studying different theories, perspectives and mode of treatments. We will be attending a non mandatory Suicidal prevention training, which I find to be very important in my career. Words are not enough to describe how excited I am about this course. I highly recommend it to every student who is interested in the field of mental health.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

To a student who is considering to take this course I would recommend to take it very seriously. It is a tough subject and you have to put many hours into it. It is very complex and at the same time interesting and fascinating.
