Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because you can actually learn a lot about poem forms and how to format stories. It is a tremendous amount of work, but it's meant to help you build and become a better writer. She is not easy when it comes to grading, however, she will assist you with anything you need. Professor Fulton loves to give feedback; take advantage.

    Course highlights:

Through this course, I learned that poetry has a very broad definition; broader than I had originally thought. I was informed of the many types of poetry and what makes a poem memorable. I gained knowledge on how to write a story including exposition, dialogue, and a theme. This professor is extremely challenging, however, she is thorough and wants to see you flourish into the writer you are meant to be.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Writing is subjective, so it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what to do or what to write. My recommendation would be to never leave any of her assignments for the last minute, ask for feedback, edit (A LOT), and read everything she assigns to be read.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because the professor leaves a lot of open responsibility and opportunities to you as a student to creatively explore yourself with a controlled, balanced curriculum. He grades fairly and offers open critique in a discussion circle in class. I would not recommend this class to anyone who is looking to write nonfiction works or essays, rather to anyone who is looking for inspiration in creative poetry or fiction pieces.

    Course highlights:

I was able to practice becoming a better poet during this class. He taught me how to shorten my thoughts and compress meaning in just a couple of sentences. Mr. Hettich himself is a poet and though I finished both of his classes I still look up to him as inspiration for my pieces.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not procrastinate, make sure to do every assignment, and never say no to his inspirational suggestions. Be prepared both to push yourself creatively and step into areas that might be out of your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to really express yourself- there is no censorship in his classroom.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because, if you enjoy writing, you will have fun overall.

    Course highlights:

I learned more about poetry, and now I feel comfortable being able to write poetry for fun. I was also able to write a lot, which I like doing.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you would like to take this course, you have to enjoy writing or else you might have a tough time in the class.
