Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course was incredibly insightful. In all other english classes we learn to read for content rather than analyze stylistic features or the authors purpose. In this course we read multiple different books that focussed on similar issues and had the chance to talk about why and how the authors converted their messages and how they were influenced either by their culture or social status.

    Course highlights:

We learned the stylistic features and how authors use them to convey meaning. We also discussed racism and gender equality as well as bias and prejudice in social classes. We also had the opportunity to give presentations on a literary text and give our own opinions on what they author was trying to convey.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take your time when writing essays! Essays are extremely important to gage your overall achievement in the class, for you and for your teacher. It is extremely important that you state your opinion, give an example, and provide evidence for that example and explain why this is important as well as the significance on the audience.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Because English 10 is a requirement, it doesn't matter if i recommend it or not but. Either way, my experience with my English 10 teacher Ms. Cortright was really good. We had good class discussions and our MYP project was actually really fun.

    Course highlights:

The MYP project was the highlight of this course. It's a free choice project on a topic of your choice and you get to learn how to do strong research. I would recommend sticking to the deadlines Ms. Cortright lays out for this project because a lot of kids got behind and cant catch up. Also, reading Oedipus in class was interesting.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely read outside of class, or read the books we are assigned on your own. I know a lot of students don't bother to read and just Spark Note the chapters but you are only shorting yourself. Also, completing your MYP project on time is imperitive.
