Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to any student willing to learn a significant amount about American History from a highly educated teacher. This course focused highly on listening and taking in information well enough to explain yourself further on tests and quizzes.

    Course highlights:

I feel as if this course well prepared me for a college setting. It was not a typical high school class; in this course we were taught by full discussion. I learned far more about the subject than expected.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class, you must be attentive. You must be awake and focused on the speaker. Also, reading the textbook is extremely important. Most of all, I recommend taking excessive amounts of notes. Do not just write those notes down, however, you must study them whenever possible as well.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course for anyone pursing any type of career, because I think that everyone should know some sort of history of where they live.

    Course highlights:

The best parts of this course was defiantly the projects. For any hands-on learners, American-History 1 is the place to have fun. We have projects about the wars, the journalism, and sometimes even the bloodiest battles.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Studying is a big thing in this course, it is not one of those courses where you can study at the last second and pull out a B. If you do NOT study until the day before you will end up with a D and if you are lucky you could possibly get a C. STUDY STUDY STUDY

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course was interesting and Mr. Joyner is a good teacher who has strong opinions. It's very educational if you pay attention.

    Course highlights:

I gained a basic understanding of American History, dating from the first colonist through the reconstruction period after the Civil War. The teacher does a good job of keeping the class interesting.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to complete all maps on time. They are an easy grade that just take time to complete. Also, read the assigned textbook chapters as soon as possible or at least scan through them.
