    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mark Proulx is an exceptional EMT instructor. Everything I have learned in his class follows me to this day, and it has made me an exceptional provider.

    Course highlights:

This course is tougher than 99% of EMT-B courses out there. If you can survive the 5-6 months of rigorous studying and training without him dropping you, you're more than qualified.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Study, study, study! And don't dare step over the CPR dummy during CAM drills.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a fantastic course for anyone looking to go into the healthcare field and gives you a good base of knowledge for applying to colleges. Being a two year course does mean that it takes a significant amount of time to complete, but it is well worth it because you can pursue an emergency medical technician's license or go down the nursing path and become a licensed nursing assistant. Anyone looking to go into healthcare should take this course because it is a fantastic opportunity with fantastic instructors.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course for me was being able to focus on emergency medical studies and work with EMT and Paramedic instructors so that I could take the state written and practical exam and become an EMT myself.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to spend a lot of time working outside of class on your skills. Knowing how to take vital signs is a cornerstone in healthcare and you can never get enough practice. I practice on my family members all the time by taking their pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. Just because the school day ends doesn't mean you can wait until the next day to practice again. It's a labor of love and it prepares you well to go into any career in healthcare.
