    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

English is an important skill for everyone whichever major they chose to pursue because it prepares you to deal with the world and people in it. It teaches you to express your thoughts, build your argument, and look at the situation from the different perspectives. A rhetorical essay made you analyze and understand how different people use language to persuade people to their point of view. It is a priceless skill every human being should have to succeed in society.

    Course highlights:

During the course, step by step I improved my writing skills. When I look back, it is hard to understand what exactly influenced the change or what activity was the most influential. Yet, I realized that the most important part of the process of writing an essay is to consider each point of view people may have. I developed my writing and thinking skills as I had to think of all the arguments I can use to deliver my opinion. It also helped me to look deep inside every detail of speaker’s words as I had to find the purpose of each one. It almost made me feel like a psychologist. Class discussions in my AP English class served a great purpose as they let people speak up their mind, which widened my own horizons when I listened to so many different opinions. It helps you to understand people better and prepares for synthesis and argument essay.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

English class is not just your understanding of English language- it is your understanding of the world around you. If you want to make a strong argument, you should have a lot of background knowledge which means you have to read a lot and know what is going on in the world. You should be open-minded and ready to accept different points of view. Write essays from your heart and your brain. Find something interesting about each subject you have to write about and you won't be bored or annoyed. This class gives you so many opportunities to learn about the world around you, so use them. Listen to what people say, try to understand their mindset, and include it in your writing.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is honestly one of the hardest classes I have on my schedule. My advice to you is to learn time management . Learn to manage this class among others, and after school activities and you should be fine.
