    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP Psychology is definitely one of the best courses I took in high school. It gives you the knowledge which allows you to interact with people and the world in a whole new light. It is fascinating to learn about the different influences on a person and understand how their brains are structured, why they make the decisions they do, and even how they see the world.

    Course highlights:

What I particularly liked about psychology was exploring the nature versus nurture debate and how different theorists viewed it. Especially when it came to learning about different disorders and how/to what extent they can be cured, I was always on the edge of my seat.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to study notes that the teacher gives you and read the textbook! There is so much valuable information to be absorbed that is often skipped over by the teacher.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course because it really changes your perception on a lot of things. It makes you realize the complexity of the human brain and how amazing it is as it helps us with our daily life functions. I would also recommend this class because we are all used to taking classes that don't pertain to our self being. Math, history, and English classes teach us many things, however, psychology teaches us about the most powerful organ in our body.

    Course highlights:

One highlight from this course is learning about the many disorders that we are familiar with, but don't really have much information on. Learning about things like Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), or mostly known as multiple personality disorder, was really cool and scary because it demonstrates the power of the human mind. Another highlight for me was learning about how our brains receive and send information. Learning about neurons and neurotransmitters may seem boring to many, however, just the simple fact that our body and brain are naturally created to do such complex work, I feel like, would amaze anyone.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class, you must study! All the information will not be easy to remember. Unless of course, you have a photographic memory. But if not, put in the work to study and participate in class discussions. My teacher had us write an outline for each chapter we went through. This helped tremendously and I highly recommend going in dept with your outlines because it really helps on tests and also for the AP test. Lastly, I recommend creating a study group. You may not catch all the information from the textbook or the teacher and studying in a group allows you share more information with each other. However, you should also study on your own time apart from the group.
