Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Hegna is a very engaging and talented professor. He makes the class fun but also teaches the information better than any other biology teacher at the University.

    Course highlights:

This course makes Biology II a lot easier because Hegna does such a magnificent job of teaching the foundations of Biology.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study at least a week in advanced of every test.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Hegna is open to students asking questions during class, and he is very helpful during office hours. He also admits when he makes a mistake, which isn't often. His lecture is very thorough. The best part are his well-organized PowerPoints. The majority of the material on his exams come from these in-class notes, which are also posted online.

    Course highlights:

Having studied moths in graduate school, he loves telling us stories about them. The ones about Finland are the best. The most astonishing part is how he ties everything into his lectures. The first unit essentially covered the basics of biology, which I learned in high school. Macromolecules require a lot of memorization, and I just did not like studying them. I would say genes and DNA expression were the highlights of this course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention when he speaks. Write down the additional things he says. Definitely take notes during class. Rewriting them helps. That's what I always did. Make sure you do the online quizzes on-time. Yes, they are mandatory now.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Hegna is fantastic! He has made Biology 1 comprehendible and a fun class that I look forward to. He does accommodate to basically all learning styles and is very approachable.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Hegna just made it fun. Especially during the Q&As before exams sometimes we would get to hear about his research and experiences.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Having a decently strong biology background will help so much in this course.
