    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mrs. Mancini was a phenomenal teacher throughout the whole Fall and Spring Term of AP Chemistry. She educates her students excellently and practices consistency in class. She is able to do this by minimizing her days absent from the class room. In doing so, me and the rest of my class were well prepared for the AP exam in May!

    Course highlights:

For me, the highlights of this course were RedOx reactions and titration. Both involved examining chemical equations and balancing them. RedOx involved Reduction and Oxidization, and you'll soon realize, when you take the course, these terms are misleading and mean the opposite of what you think should happen! Titration involved using acids and bases to negate each other, leaving the solution around 7pH.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take this course just to take it or just because you think it will look good for colleges. If you do this, then you are simply wasting your time, and your wasting the course. Chemistry is an amazing class to take, and an amazing field of study. Be prepared to work hard in Mrs. Mancini's class. Enjoy each minute of the class, and you will be fascinated with what you learn.

If one wants to have an occupation that requires AP Chemistry, it is highly recommended to them. This teacher will do whatever it takes to help, but you must ask, not just sit there and get lost.

    Course highlights:

I've learned many topics that will definitely show up in your college classes. You many not remember them after the year you've learned it, but you will definitely be familiar with it in college will help you get an easy A.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I strongly recommend this class, for a multitude of reasons. First, Mrs. Mancini instructs just as a college professor would, treating each student like an adult and moving at a comfortable but effective pace. Another reason I would recommend this class is because it pushes you to work hard and earn the grade you desire, due to the immense workload both in class and at home. Also, I recommend this class because it shows how well you can work with others, which is imperative both in college and in a career. While performing labs with your group, it is essential that you can take charge if necessary, but also fulfill your role and allow others to fulfill theirs. Finally, I recommend this class because it helped me determine my college major. This course depicts the fundamental aspects of engineering, as well as other science-related majors.

    Course highlights:

I learned many things from this course, aside from the information in the curriculum. We learned new words on a daily basis, the majority of which I use regularly now. I improved my ability to work with others during each lab, and also my skills when it comes to the application of chemistry. The labs were perhaps the most insightful aspects of the class, because they were the ones which we will need to know in the real world. Much of the information we are taught in class is important, but isn't necessary when performing real experiments for a career. The labs, on the other hand, taught me which chemicals can be mixed safely and which cannot, as well as many other chemical applications to the real world.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

AP Chemistry is a very difficult and demanding course, and that is imperative to understand before you select it on your schedule. This is not just a class you take to satisfy your science requirements, as you will have to give at least 15-20 hours a week to complete homework assignments, labs, and study for assessments. Despite its demanding nature, this class can be very rewarding if taken the right way. If you put the time in to complete each and every assignment to the best of your ability, you will gain immense knowledge from the course. I would also strongly recommend creating study groups, as those because beneficial with quizzes and tests, especially the midterm and final exams. My final piece of advice correlates to the last one, and that is not to be shy. If you are viewed as outgoing and curious, it will put you in a good position with te teacher as well as your peers. This is crucial when study and lab groups are being made, and will also help your relationship with the teacher in case you begin to struggle. Ultimately, this class can be detrimental or phenomenal, depending on the effort you put in to it and your ability to work with your peers.
