    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

IB English 12 has not only broaden my horizons when it comes to literature, but it has also allowed me to grow as an individual when studying such pressing topics.

    Course highlights:

One specific highlight from this course includes our focus on the patriarchy in Egypt based on the novel, "Woman at Point Zero". This unit not only taught me more about the phallocentric environments that innocent women are stranded in, but how a few powerful women are brave enough to go against the norm and overcome the male dominancy. The words of El Saadawi in her novel inspired us as a class, and has left a mark on me forever.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are given the option to select Mrs. Day's IB English Class, I advise you to do so in a heartbeat. Although the workload at the beginning is tough at times, this course only prepares you for the next stepping stone in your life; college. Mrs. Day also gives you a worldly outlook on situations, which is hard to acquire as the young adults we are. It is essential to obtain such qualities, especially before you step out into the "real world".

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

IB English 12 is a wonderful course and I'm lucky to have had such a great teacher. I love reading literature that I wouldn't normally read or hear about, and learning new writing techniques.

    Course highlights:

IB English primarily focuses on literature and writing techniques. We look deep into pieces and ask difficult and thought provoking questions. We also dive into other cultures and their inner working through world literature.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Please, actually read the literature, especially the summer assignment. I promise It's worth it, and it will help you in the long run. Also, don't let passion blind you in your writing. Answer questions thoroughly and give the teachers what they want to hear. This sounds sad, and it is, but do what you have to do.
