    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone as interested in English as I am! This course is wonderful in strengthening reading, writing, and comprehension skills. In addition to these valuable assets, a passing score on the AP Exam allows students to obtain college credits, thus saving students money and time. Finally, this class will greatly benefit student when it comes time to write college applications and scholarship essays!

    Course highlights:

After taking this course, I felt more confident in my reading, writing, and annotating skills. I learned how to manage my time and develop a strong, coherent essay. In addition, this class prepared me for the SAT's and I attribute my higher English score to this class.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise future students to try their hardest and never give up. I understand it is discouraging to read a piece of literature and not comprehend what happened... I experienced this feeling in the class. However, talking to other classmates helps to clarify and gain understanding of the work. Also, I would encourage students to talk to their teacher whenever they need help or have a questions. The teachers want the students to succeed.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for those who take English seriously. There is a lot of writing, but it's all in class. However, in order to stay caught up and improve, a lot of independent studying has to be done. The goal is to improve your writing, and that cannot be done without practicing and studying outside of school.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of this course was the reading and analyzing. By reading other's work, I was able to learn how to strengthen my own writing. It gave me tips on what to do and what not to do when it came to writing different kinds of essays.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice to students is to study and practice as much as possible. Ms. Wells grades and critiques as if it is the actual AP exam, but it's only for your benefit. However, only practicing in school is not enough, to really improve and aim for a 5 on the AP exam, you need to study at home and consider the notes she writes for you on your essays.
