Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The AP biology course requires a lot more work than when taking regular biology, but it's a lot more interesting and engaging as well. Our note taking days often involve class discussions and competitions, which keeps the learning interesting and doesn't put people in a daze. Our teacher, Mrs. Miyashiro, always takes the time to work us through formulas and difficult concepts step by step. Because the class is so in depth and thorough, as long as you're paying attention it isn't very hard even with the extra workload.

    Course highlights:

I receive a more thorough account of biology compared to a regular biology class as well as learning basic statistics for lab reports. The assignments are put on strict deadlines, which forces me to figure out my priorities and get the assignment done ahead of time instead of procrastinating. Overall, I learn a more detailed account of biology than I normally would as well as some good skills I'd need for collegee such as problem-solving, efficient note taking, and study skills.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The key to succeeding in this class is paying attention during the lessons, writing all the notes, and getting all your assignments taped in. You are graded on taping all your lab assignments in your lab notebook, so it's easier to tape them in as you get them instead of putting it off. The teacher provides good techniques for remembering important points in each lesson as well as small competitions to better get the material across, which is why it's important to pay attention and get all the notes down in order to be successful. It's also important not to miss too many days as each class will be at least somewhat important to your overall grade.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class has been the most informative and the most fun. Mrs. Miyashiro conveys her points in a way that makes it clear and interesting. She makes connections to today and always makes sure that we know what we're doing. I also enjoy the challenges that accompany the AP curriculum.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this corse are plentiful but the most prominent examples would be the evolution until. To me this unit was the most interesting because of natural selection and how it happens. I think the understanding that came with learning that animals can cause each other to evolove,(co-evolution) like the cheetah and the gisselle's speed increasing because of each other, was one of the best feelings in school.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you're going to take this class you cannot slack off. This class is easy if you're willing to put in the work and study if not this class can be difficult. The teacher works with you and gives you ample extra credit opportunities that you should take advantage of.
