    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this if you excel at english and prefer a challenge! The course was hard with a large amount of homework, but it paid off when I passed the AP exam knowing I would probably not have to take English at all in college. It's a stressful class, so make sure you have ways to cope with stress before taking on the challenge.

    Course highlights:

One of the highlights of this course was the bonds I made with others in the class who were interested in the same subject as me. Another highlight was the variety of authors from Emerson to Edgar Allen Poe, and how we truly synthesized everything and anything we could find. I love writing, which is a plus because of how much writing we did.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell one to do every homework assignment even if it seems like "busy work"; every task in this class is geared toward passing the AP exam, and you should take every assignment seriously. Another piece of advice I would say would be to look up and learn every vocal word you do not know, because there are many multiple choice questions on the exam related to vocal words, and many were tough words.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

If you love to read then this is the class for you. The teacher is really great and as long as you do your homework and your assignments then she is really fair.

    Course highlights:

I loved the Victorian era and how we were allowed to pick out the books we wanted. Even if we couldn't read all of the books we wanted to as homework, we were still able to compromise and read at least one of the books we did want to read.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to read as this is a AP English class. You also need to be able to understand what you are reading. If you don't then ask questions. Blindly following along will get you nowhere. Especially when it comes to the ap testing.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I believe that this is the kind of English class that is actually useful to everyone. The things taught make you a better thinker, analyzer, and writer. It is important to be able to read and understand the different techniques that the writer is using to convince you (the reader) of something.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to write really good essays. I know recognize different rhetorical devices in every day life that can help me understand good arguments and manipulative ones.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to put a lot of time into the class. It is based on reading and writing, so expect to do those things every night. If you don't understand something, Mrs. Constantino is always willing to help and is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She wants you to succeed and she only spends time teaching the things that you need for the AP exam.
