    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Although Ms. Girdwood is a tough teacher, through this and the challenging course load that HL English is, I grew as a writer and a student in general.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course included the variety of literature that we read, and the high level of difficulty that categorized this literature. Through this, my skills in analysis were greatly heightened, as was my writing. Ms. Girdwood is a wonderful writing teacher, who grades hard, so that you can truly achieve your full potential.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course, one must be, or grow to be, a critical reader and writer. What you may think is your best essay, is really only mediocre. Redrafting, fully analyzing the text, and truly focusing on your writing is the best way to fully gain from this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course challenged my thinking. Our curriculum is based off of reading books that are not straight forward. They require to think deeper. It is an interesting course that makes you think differently.

    Course highlights:

A highlight of this course was reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It is your standard Romeo and Juliet love story but with a much more interpretive background.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to do your reading. When you discuss the book in class, you'll want to know what your classmates are talking about so that you can put your input in as well.
