Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend taking this course because it introduces you to a whole new level of reading comprehension and writing techniques that will be necessary for success in college. This class breaks away from the average high school essay and pushes students to truly work on their writing techniques. The literature introduced in this class also helps students learn how to read in depth, and how to truly appreciate what goes into writing a book. This class is an introduction to the college level of reading and writing that will be expected of students. This class is as challenging as it is rewarding.

    Course highlights:

This course definitely helped me to improve my writing techniques. I started to become more aware of my writing, and ways to improve it. At the end of the year we did a portfolio, where we went back and edited and re-wrote some of our essays, and it was rewarding to see how much our writing had improved over the year. Additionally, we read some very interesting novels. East of Eden, written by John Steinbeck, was a very complex novel that we read, and I am glad that I was able to understand the novel on a deeper level. Our class also had a lot of discussions on the books we read, and it was very beneficial to hear other students’ interpretations of these books, as well as sharing our own interpretations.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would recommend that students keep up with the reading, it is important to read the pages they are assigned so they can be prepared to discuss the books in class. Additionally, it is important for students to put effort into improving their writing; this class will ask students to change a lot when it comes to how they write, and students have to be prepared and willing to make some changes. It is also important for students to come in and ask for help if they are struggling with something.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Taking this course as a junior in high school, i was very unaware of globule issues, this class helped me broaden my awareness because, you need sufficient evidence and examples for you essays. (also something i learned)

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about proper etiquette. I was finally in a class where other students actually wanted to be there so, i was able to work with colleagues to learn the most i could about the power language has.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Always do the homework because, the discussions in class are always based on the previous homework so, if you fall behind, you also fall behind in discussion which is a big part of your grade.
