    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it provides a huge challenge and teaches you to be responsible with work. Mr. Dawson is an amazing teacher and is truly in love with his job and you can tell by the way he teaches.

    Course highlights:

I definitely learned to be more open in reading poetry. Reading difficult books like Tess U'berville was a challenge and made it hard to understand what was happening in the time period we discussed it. But my teacher made it possible for me to get the gist.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you can understand complicated text. Also make sure you open minded and able to focus on the task at hand. Be advised that it has a course load but in the end it is a great class to take.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend taking AP Literature and Composition if you are going to be a senior. For me it helped me a lot with reading comprehension and understanding the point of the books we read. Through intense class discussion I am clearly able to understand what is happening in the piece of literature we are reading. This class has helped me a lot with my writing skills as well and the books you read are really interesting. English usually isn't my type of thing to choose to go with over the other core subjects, but I learned a lot in this class.

    Course highlights:

What I really like about this course is the books that we read. The last book we read was called "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'brien and it was about the Vietnam War. All the short stories, even though he says they are not true, make you wonder whether or not things like these actually happened. I am reading Hamlet now and Shakespeare is confusing, but the class makes if very interesting and easy for you to understand his language and the books takes you on a huge journey. I have learned knew ways to write essays and have further developed my reading comprehension skills.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to read thoroughly when you are given a book to read or any piece of literature because you won't understand whats going on and then when it comes time to quizzes, you won't do well. Trust me. I didn't do well with some quizzes on books, mainly because the book was confusing and had a horrible plot. Also make sure you put your effort into the things you write or say because you want everyone in the class to understand what you are trying to contribute.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr.Dawson gives that college level of intellectual inquisitiveness that really makes you think about the reason why someone would write his/her own literature.

    Course highlights:

Writing poetry in Mr.Dawson's class is a exciting experience because he is a fair critic and knows what you need help on. I learned that the stature of a poem doesn't do it justice unless looked at vigorously.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Ask a lot of questions and try to be the most professional person you can be cause it will help with the reciprocation that Dawson will say to you that will try to understand.
