    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this class. I'm not really smart when it comes to history, but Mr. VanHoutan never gives up on his students and pushes everyone to do their best! He really listens to the students and asks for their feedback on what method of teachings is helping them learn. He really cares for everyone and he even finds songs to help them remember dates and periods!

    Course highlights:

Well, I'm terrible when it comes to remebering dates and times periods. With the songs he makes us remeber really helped me. The highlight of this course was the time we all made posters and were teachers for the day.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Read everyday and DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was both challenging and engaging. The teacher is very knowledgeable on his content and is dedicated to creating an entertaining and fun learning environment in which students can learn and laugh.

    Course highlights:

In the first grading period, the teacher made us learn a song which contained every President's term so that we would memorize all of the presidents. He made us sing it in front a cafeteria full of people based purely off of memory. I learned all of the Presidents of the United States.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't procrastinate on the weekend homework. Just do it during the week. Don't wait until the last minute to learn the President Song. Just take one night and listen to it over and over again. Also, don't do anything to make Mr. V angry, he will make up a nickname and call you that all year.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was SO MUCH FUN. Mr. VanHoutan easily finds a healthy balance between teaching the material thoroughly while also maintaining a fun classroom atmosphere.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was passing the AP test at the end of the school year. It was amazing to be able to walk away from such an important test and be confident in the results that were to follow.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is tough, but definitely doable. Be sure to stay ahead of the workload, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Study for tests, but also don't stress too much. Mr. VanHoutan's ultimate goal is for his students to succeed- he will never assign you something you aren't capable of doing.
