Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Prof. Stephens is on his student's level. He will always find a reason you should be proud of a piece while also always having a path to impovement. His group workshops allow you to spread your work across the class in ways I have never had before. He leads discussion and wants everyone to be involved. He's also just a really nice guy.

    Course highlights:

I gained a more thorough understanding of why writers use certain literary tools. My most prominent lesson in the class was the work on poetry (Specificially, how amazing it can be.) and potentially how he helped me realize I needed to reinvent some cliches that were sticking in my different writing pieces.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You're going to write. A lot. Don't play around with deadlines because while he's sympathetic, he won't make the class wait for one person. Always come prepared and with the reading done. The reading load is extremely soft and can be handled by anyone most weeks. Don't be afraid to express yourself. It's writing. Go for it.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class was a lot of fun! Dr. Sommers allowed us to be ourselves and write what we wanted to. I walked out of that class a better writer than I was.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to wrote without saying exactly what I meant. I had to use metaphors and other kinds of descriptive languages in order to get my point across but also to leave room for interpretation.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You will not be disappointed! He will work with you to make you a better writer and so will your classmates.
