Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is not difficult relative to some other English courses, but it does require a bit of dedication to the reading and end-of-the-year projects. Homework is rarely given out, but when it is, avoiding completing it could cost you your grade. Mes. Brain is an amazing teacher who relates to her students and uses life stories and a youthful sense of humor to engage her students in the material.

    Course highlights:

I gained useful essay-writing skills, along with help in understanding Old English-type writing and poetry.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

If you don't understand a passage, talk to your teacher! If you don't understand what's wrong with your essay, talk to your teacher! If you're having personal issues that will impede your ability to learn, talk to your teacher! They understand these things and will help you out as best they can. Also, ALWAYS do the reading!!!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

She makes you interested in the story! She follows up every major event with an explanation in case you didn't understand the first time.

    Course highlights:

Taking this course taught me the importance of theme. Every story has a theme whether we notice it or not. It makes you more aware of the author's intention and allows you to appreciate a book on a whole other level.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Spark noting the books will not always work. The stories are worth reading so I would just read them. Read books outside of class! The more you read, the more you'll pick up on theme faster.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I've loved being in this English class! She makes the reading even more enjoyable and helps students find their own insights into the books and writings.

    Course highlights:

I learned about all of the different writing styles and I learned how to compare American writing to British.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You really need to stay on top of the reading assignments, not reading the books that are assigned will have very unfortunate results when it comes time to write an essay on them.
