    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mrs. Pierce has an incredibly vast knowledge of literature and how it relates to the novels that we studied in classes. Her assignments are incredibly relevant to the exams at the end of the year, and she does not waste class time.

    Course highlights:

I was able to build upon my knowledge from prior English classes in order to advance my knowledge in this course. I learned many more terms and how they applied to the many novels and plays that we made.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the work!! Her work is incredibly relevant and is not a waste of time! It is a great study tool for the end of the course exam.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course is a challenging IB English class that, coming from Junior year, comes as a shock. The teacher works hard to ensure that students understand and truly value literature. The topics sometimes deviates from the actual course work however, overall my idea of the books we have talked about has broadened and how I look at literature has change to make me a more effective annotator and analyzer.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were when we conducted presentations of power points of individual chapters inside the books. These were more creative and therefore I learned more through the personal interactions than when just sitting through a lecture.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Understand that this course is not easy. This course requires hard work and more time than expected from an English class however, it is so worth it. Pay attention to the teacher and always come prepared becuase Mrs. Pierce doesn't take kindly to those who aren't equipped with the necessary tools. Come into the class with an open mind to a new teaching style and you'll be okay for the rest of the year.
