    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Although this course was challenging, I think if everyone has room in their schedule, they should take it. You will definitely have a lot of homework if you take this course, but it teaches you how to write in a way that will be beneficial for your future.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to write memos, a proper email, and properly search information about a company and convey my findings to an audience.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students who are taking this course to not wait until the last minute to complete an assignment. Writing does take long, and to properly complete it, you need to give yourself ample time.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is what will prepare you to be a future leader in any situation. This course has taught me that it's not about how intelligent a person is; it's about how intelligent a person sounds. Success lies in capturing and closing the deal with the audience.

    Course highlights:

I learned to be an effective communicator. I thought that I had known everything about talking to people. There is much psychology that goes into it. But, Dr. Barnes doesn't make you study the psychology; she tells you what works! She is by far the best public speaker I've ever encountered.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do think critically about everything she says. Dr. Barnes is extremely personable and approachable. I know she may seem intimidating! This is the person you should be modeling. At every moment, Dr. Barnes is authoritative, sharp, and enthusiastic. If you follow her every word, you will be a master negotiator whether it's through a phone call, in person, or in an email.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this course because it will help you in the business world. Although some of the assignments are challenging, it helps you learn how to communicate effectively through writing.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to write a memo, a cover letter, a persuasive email, a bad news message, and etc. All of these documents would be helpful if I were to work for a company one day when communicating to fellow employees or customers.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Really focus on instructions given in lecture and you get out of the course what you put into it.
