Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Negotiation is such a necessary skill in life and this class gives you great knowledge and experience on the topic! I took the graduate school version for the MSM program. It was a very hands on class, and every class included a negotiation exercise with either one other person or a group. Professor Callahan is very good with this subject and has great insights on the complexities of negotiation.

    Course highlights:

I really like the in-class negotiations. Most of them were pulled from real life examples, which made them more relatable and realistic. Each negotiation focused on slightly different learning tools, giving us a full spectrum. For example, we did an email negotiation, salary negotiation, a group negotiation over giant panda and a real estate negotiation just to name a few. After every negotiation, the class does a debrief to understand how everyone was thinking.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to actively participate every class in the negotiations and be fully prepared on the negation itself by reading the background paper that is provided. There is some group project work and individual journal entries that much be completed every week or two but it's not too challenging.
