Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

In West African Dance class, we really did dance! Our professor would lead a warm up and teach us dance moves and styles to live drumming from true Africans who had been trained in it. We learned 3 different styles of dance, with 5-10 moves to go with each style. Each style also had its own drum beat. We also learned a few songs.

    Course highlights:

For me, the highlights of this course were the performances. Each student had to participate in one performance, along with the performance in front of friends at the end of the year. Another highlight for me was getting to wear the lapas. This is a skirt-like piece of fabric that was our "required text" for the semester. We had to wear it to each class, and they came in a variety of different colors and patterns.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course, you definitely need to step out of your comfort zone and really participate in the class. There really aren't any grades throughout the semester, it's ultimately based on how much you participate in class.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This class was a ton of fun! This class is stress-free, an opportunity to exercise, and learn about the West African culture. The only complaint I have is that he grades randomly and does not give an explanation for grading.

Learn about a new culture Fun Exercise Break form stressful classes

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:
