    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for three reasons. First and foremost, it is a three-credit course that is not ridiculously time-consuming. Second, the course is surprisingly useful. I, like many pre-med students, did not have the slightest clue where my niche could be in the vast world of health care. This course deviates from the anatomy intensive one might expect and dives into the details not often considered: pay (OK everyone thinks about this), hours per week, lifestyle choices, frequency of encountering death, why someone may like this specific profession, character traits needed for a specific profession. Thirdly, you are satisfying the prerequisite for MDU 4004, which is shadowing a UF physician at Shand's Hospital (or nearby clinic). If you're interested in health care at all MDU4004 should be an investment you make because you can dive headfirst into the health care world (ranging from neurosurgeon to pathologist, to social work) and see which career you like. Plus since you're partnered with a medical professional in the real world, you get to practice networking with adults and who knows what connections you might make. These people are great for medical school letters of recommendation as well.

    Course highlights:

Highlights include: the LIGHT coursework, simple quizzes, and benefit at MDU 4004. Each week you're responsible for 2 modules (consisting of 2-3 videos by UF med school professionals and an article or two on related knowledge) each accompanied with a respective quiz. The quizzes are pretty easy and you can use "ctl+f" or "command+f" to find anything you really need. If you wanted to knock out one week's work, you could do it in about two hours if you're focused and watch EVERY video (sometimes I'd split the work between classmates and we'd do the quizzes together SHHH). Although it was easy I learned a LOT about the commitment to being a medical professional AFTER MEDICAL SCHOOL. It does not get ridiculously easy after you become an MD. I learned how misconstrued of a perception TV shows like Grey's Anatomy gave me. I did not like some of the info I learned and actually prompted me to change my major to biomedical engineering. I couldn't be happier and feel confident in my decision. Healthcare is so large that not everyone needs to be a doctor. If you want to, you need to know EVERYTHING you're signing up for.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

You literally have to watch the videos and you'll do fine. Since it is online without Proctor U, you can take it with a friend if it will make you feel better, but honestly super straightforward.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This course is a must if you are extremely interested in the medical field and unsure of your exact field! If you are able to obtain an A in this class the following semester you are eligible to take MDU 4004, the following course will allow you to shadow a physician in Shand's Hospital. I strongly recommend for all pre-med or any pre-health professional majors even if you believe of knowing the exact medical field you will go in to !

    Course highlights:

Currently, I am taking this course now therefore have not finished, I like that the course is not as difficult on excessive workload and that the material is relatively simple if you watch all of the videos and read all of the material! Sometimes you may have to read more on specific fields by using outside sources to help you !

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study Tips: Watch all of the videos and readings! Always try to get more information from outside sources to compare!
