    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Moshanov is an amazing professor! He makes the material so comprehensive and teaches the course in a very step-wise approach. I especially enjoyed that we had quizzes every day- this helps you keep up with the material and challenges your understanding.

    Course highlights:

I especially loved learning about genetics- we didn't get to this until the end of the semester but it was most enjoyable. Mendelian ratios and genes expressed as traits, linked traits- makes me excited to take genetics soon! But for the majority of the course, you learn about Proteins, DNA, Carbohydrates, Polysaccharides, and then you go into cells and how they function and then specialized cells with Photosynthesis and the Cell Cycle. You end with DNA replication, biotechnology and genetics. Definitely take this course! It's a lot of work and you have to be willing to put in the time but it is so worth it!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to read the book! READ THE BOOK!!! did I mention read the book? I got an A in this class but I am among very few- if you aren't willing to put in the time, you will not get a good grade. (also, I highly recommend staying in class for the full lecture because the power points are useless without his talking points)

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is necessary to become a biology major and I found that I learned a lot.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was learning about things like the building blocks of life, the Central Dogma of biology, and DNA.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would say that you need to give about two hours a day to this course for studying. Make sure to read the book and take thorough notes. Make sure to make flashcards and to not just memorize the information but to have an understanding of it as well. Ask questions if you don't understand.
