    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course was tough, but the teacher was very fair and helpful. Microbiology pertains to a multitude of career fields, and as a nursing student, I found the information very applicable to my major. It was interesting to learn about microbes and realize how big a role they play in our everyday lives.

    Course highlights:

The lab section of this course was the best lab I have ever had. It was very engaging and hands-on, and the lab material followed directly with what was being taught in lecture. The more I participated, the better I understood the procedures and effects of transferring microorganisms. I learned about numerous ways to test organisms based on their characteristics, respiratory mechanisms, etc.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This is not a course you can just fly through. It involves a great deal of time spent studying and reviewing the material. When readings are assigned, I highly suggest you do them before the class and then again afterwards. Flashcards certainly helped me learn the material, as did recording the lectures.
